Dr. Russell is a Shreveport native, and returned to the Shreveport area with her family in 2015, after completing her education and early career training. She takes pride in serving the Northwest Louisiana community. Dr. Russell has a M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The University of Tulsa, having completed her doctoral degree in 2009. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Oklahoma Forensic Center through the Northeastern Oklahoma Psychology Internship Program, and then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology through Texas Tech University and Lubbock Regional MHMR Services. She is a Licensed Psychologist in both Louisiana and Texas. Dr. Russell began her solo private practice, Clinical & Forensic Psychology of Shreveport, in February of 2024.
Dr. Russell has coauthored a book chapter on predatory and affective violence, and also was a contributing author to an undergraduate forensic psychology textbook. Dr. Russell has experience in a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient settings, including: prisons, maximum-security forensic hospitals, the VA healthcare system, and private practice. In these settings, she has provided both treatment and evaluation to forensic, correctional, and civil populations. She has taught undergraduate-level forensic psychology courses, and serves as Gratis Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Shreveport, where she provides training to psychiatry residents and staff on a variety of topics related to clinical and forensic psychology. She has testified as an expert witness in courts in both Louisiana and Texas, as well as federal court. She has offered testimony in criminal cases with charges including Capital Murder and other violent felonies.
When not at work, Dr. Russell enjoys spending time with her spouse and children, cooking, playing with her dog, Landry, traveling, and cheering on her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.
